Why is Yemen on the news now?

Since I assume Christmas day, Yemen has been on the news correct?
Also because some guy that I guess lives in England and then goes to Yemen for training for blowing up a plane and then goes back to England. Im sure im wrong on that. But im been trying to Research more on this but I can’t quite get it. Why exactly is Yemen on the news? And did this guy that tried to blowup the plane on christmas day influence it? And what is the story in Yemen on the news?
I would appreciate some good information, and a storyline of the guy the tried to blowup plane. As like,
who did he go to for training and stuff.

We want to go to war with yemen to keep a rebellion down to protect our investment in their oil.
They are on the long list of countries the u.s.plans to bomb then invade and start WW3.
It is because of the Nigerian on Christmas day. He was trained and supplied by an Al Qaeda cell in Yemen before his failed attempt on the flight in Detroit. We are currently working with Yemeni authorities to see what we can do to help them stamp out their terrorist cells.
