i saw on the news that yemen would never allow us troops in their country. does anybody know why we can have troops in yemen even though the terrorist are there
Why not send them to Saudi Arabia as well.
15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Wahabi-Sunnis FROM Saudi Arabia!
FYI- THe US only gets 15% of our oil from there if anyone starts this “they only care about oil than people” excuse.
What troops? The ones already serving four and five tours between Iraq and Afghanistan? Unless you a draft!!!! These terrorists are everywhere, even here in the United States amongst us! Remember the Fort Hood shooter? You forgot Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. I agree with Messin & Sasquatch….
You’re absolutely correct, the USA has completely ignored national sovereignty all over the Mideast in recent years, so it’s not because we respect international law or Yemen’s sovereignty. It’s most likely because the dictator running Yemen (known as little Saddam in the region, a really swell guy) is more or less a US ally and we want him on our side. Also, the parts of Yemen where the insurgencies are are among some of the most warlike and fiercely independent areas of Earth, and the USA really doesn’t want to start a war with these people just to try and capture/kill a handful of Al Qaeda members. It would make Al Qaeda powerful new allies, allies that could even strike at oil installations inside neighbouring Saudi Arabia. Worst case scenario it could turn Yemen into another failed state, and we need another terrorist/pirate breeding failed state in the region like we need a hole in the head.
Why cant the Questioner join the army and go on fight. If you enjoy killing people “Join”. Get yourself blownup. You will get $220 dollars a week. Insurance Death Policy. You will get a Medal and a Flag. Rest in Peace. Very Brave and stupid.
because you can’t just go and invade every poor Arab country that does something bad to you. The Christmas bomber studied in London, are you gonna invade the UK too? Terrorists are in EVERY country.
Because Yemen has very few problems with this type of terrorism, that is dangerous to us, in their country.
They do have very big problems with separatist struggles in the South and the North of their country.
It is very concievable that these areas are places where terrorists are operating.
The Yemeni government is not so strong, so Al Qaeda has beeen using this opportunity to set up in these areas.
BUT…If Al Quaeda succeed in basing themselves there, they will find it difficult to remain.
The majority of Yemeni people are absolutely against Islamic terrorism, (as much as we are).
Al Qaeda would find it impossible to hide there for so long as they do in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The Yemini people are also very much against Irans meddling in other Islamic countries, that has been so much a catalyst for terror organisations like Al Quaeda.
It is far better for the west to support Yemens’ government, to strengthen it, in its own internal struggles. In addition, the oil rich States in Arabia have a vested interest in keeping terrorism out of the Arabian peninsular. If any foreign troops should fight in Yemen, then let it be the Saudis’ and the Emirates, and we should just make damned sure Iran keeps well away.
If we can achieve more stability in Yemen, their people will deal with the hated terrorists.
For sure Al Qaeda are trying to expand their (holy ?) war against us in so many Islamic countries as possible. It is their aim to spread this “Jihad” worldwide.
If we fall into this trap that they are laying for us, we will outstrech ourselves, and eventually lose this war. We would also risk losing the support of public in our own countries, and risk alienating the Islamic world even further, if we invade another Muslim land.
This war will be won ONLY when we have won back the minds of Islamic people worldwide.
At this point in time Al Quaeda is winning this side of the War.
Attacking Iraq was the main reason for this.
Imbalanced support for Israel another.
If you send troops into a sovereign country without their permission that is an invasion and an act of war.
Why not send troops from another part of the world, as United States is
already involved with troops in Irag, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, enough
already.
