Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Yemen, a lot of these people are currently living in many European countries and have nationalitys such as dual Pakistani and British.

Are all these people going to be screened the same way as if they left originally from Pakistan or because they have flown from Britain and have British citizenship they are just going to be treated the same as a normal English man?.

You have to remember a lot of extremists live in these countries who would just be willing to take a shot at the US. So if these aren’t involved, isn’t this just a plan that has failed?

Just being noticed is an August 28 plot where a Yemeni attacked a Saudi Prince with the same hidden explosive — in his undergarments –

from www. cnn . com / breaking news

On August 28, the Saudi Arabian deputy minister of interior, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, survived a bombing attack launched by an al Qaeda cell based in Yemen, Saudi Arabia’s southern neighbor.

Abdullah Hassan al Asiri, the would-be assassin, a Saudi who had fled to Yemen, posed as a militant willing to surrender personally to Prince Nayef.

Because he leads Saudi Arabia’s counterterrorism affords against al Qaeda, the prince is a key target for the terrorist group.

Al Asiri concealed the bomb, made of PETN, in his underwear, according to the official Saudi investigation.

PETN is a plastic explosive that is not picked up by metal detectors — through which the would-be assassin had to pass before he was allowed to meet with the prince.

Saudi officials believe that the prince’s assailant exploded the 100-gram device using a detonator with a chemical fuse, which would also not be detected by a metal detector.

When the bomb went off in Prince Nayef’s Jeddah home it killed the assassin, but the prince survived the attack, sustaining only minor injuries.

Similarly, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab allegedly attempted to bring down Northwest Airlines flight 253 using a PETN bomb that was not discovered by metal detectors.

A federal security bulletin obtained by CNN said Abdulmutallab claimed to investigators that the explosive device used Friday “was acquired in Yemen along with instructions as to when it should be used.”

A senior U.S. counterterrorism official says it is “rare” for PETN to be used in a terrorist attack.

The method of concealment, the use of PETN and the origin of the bomb — Yemen — make the Prince Nayef assassination attempt and the Northwest plot an almost perfect match.

Sometimes I just visit Muslim countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, Tajikistan, etc. out of curiosity. These places are in the news all the time; I might as well check ‘em out, right. I also went to Baghdad for a while in 2008 and went south to Najaf and saw the Imam Ali mosque with a group of British Iranians… that was interesting.

Anyhow, when I fly back to the US, the Homeland Security people always ask me a bunch of questions, like I’m some sort of suspect or terrorist. What’s up with that? I’m not even Muslim. I just like to see stuff for myself, in person, rather than allow the media to dictate the terms of the world TO me.

Why would that be suspicious to anyone? Is it because I grow out a beard and wear local clothes to fit in? Does the government just want to keep us dumbed down, and not let us see things for ourselves?
I eat pork all the time. Like I said, I’m not a Muslim.

INSURGENTS TO HALT ATTACKS! Story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060628/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_060628170117;_ylt=A9G_RxpuEKNElB8ArgpX6GMA;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl

Let me be clear. I was in the military 6yrs in Europe & Mid-East. I wholeheartedly support our current mission of planting democracy in the geographic heart of the Muslim world. I know, AFTER we leave, it will prosper & spread to neighboring populations in Iran, Syria, Saudi, Egypt, Yemen, etc. And that with reform, democracy, & modern education (in 10-20yrs) there will be no one willing to listen to the cult of evil which is extremist militant Islam (read bin Laden if you like). We’ve never wanted a war in Iraq against the Sunni insurgents, just al Qaeda.

Short & sweet, would you accept terms from Sunni insurgents to pull out all troops in two years CONDITIONAL on their support to destroy al Qaeda & spin up Iraqi defense forces & democratic govt?
PLEASE read the question in full.

As to method, of course this would be the Iraqi Govt. We are their guest there & would leave on a dime if they insist. Technically, it would be the Iraqi govt agreeing to this deal, of course with us expressing some conditions to them (as I noted in the question) as a part of the deal the insurgent groups would have to agree to. Basiclly, if they come over to our side against al queada, support the govt politically, & help build the military capability so we can leave on our original terms (they stand up, we stand down)… would you support this move under those circumstances?
The planting democracy thing has worked in MANY MANY places when it is seen thru to the end. It is working right now in Bonsia to change a culture of ethnic hatred several hundred years old.

I do think it would be good for us to have a long term military base in Kurdish territory. I am uncomfortable with this deal seeming to hand the insurgents something of a victory when this war is as much about American toughness in the eyes of muslims as it is military victory. I don’t trust them as far as I can throw them & we’d be right back there on the ground in a second if they mess it up. I honestly don’t know how to feel about this yet, that’s why I’m asking.
Mind you this is TWO MORE YEARS from now we’re talking about, and full support of the Sunni population against remaining al Queada (who I thnk would flee the country for Somalia after 6 months under these conditions).
