Should we expect more of this in the future with Gitmo closing?

Former Gitmo detainee is now No.2 of Yemen’s Al-Qaida branch!

And liberals didn’t foresee this kind of thing from happening? And now we are just going close up shop and let all of these terrorists go? These people were caught on the battlefield, fighting for Islamic fundamentalism against the “evil imperialist” USA, and then they spend years in prison at Gitmo, hardening their resolve and hatred toward the United States. What other outcome do you expect to happen?

You can make the case of how we go about detaining these people and what treatment they receive, but to close the prison out right is pure stupidity!
Johnny Wane, you’re not to bright if you think I was blaming anyone for this particular persons release….. That isn’t the issue. I know he was released under Bush, I’m saying that this kind of thing is going to happen 10 fold with the closing of Gitmo. Try reading the whole thing and establish the context and then come up with a relevant answer next time before sounding like an idiot.

    No, less.

Turning them over to terrorist loving nations, such as Saudi Arabia, as we did under our president Bush was a mistake. When we do that they are able to somehow “slip away” and return to terror.

We should control them here, on OUR soil, in OUR prisons, so they cannot escape. We will prosecute them and the guilty can spend long prison sentences or die by execution in our federal prisons as did domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh.

Would you rather turn them over to terrorist loving nations such as Saudi Arabia or Pakistan? Why not just hand them back to Bin Laden.

The best solution here is to return these terrorist to the country we picked them up in and let them deal with them!

You need to calm down, stop frothing at the mouth and take a shower.

Your guy lost, get over it.

  4. Johnny Wane says:

The guy was released by Bush, not Obama. Get your facts straight!

I don’t know about this man. But assume you were unjustly arrested because some guys in Afghanistan could get bounty money for you. You then landed in Gitmo, were tortured, deprived of any rights and lived with the threat of execution for six years. I guess you wouldn’t think very kindly of the USA either.
Bush was Al-Qaeda’s most efficient recruiter, and he will remain so for many years to come.

Yes as a staunch lifelong Democrat I have to inform you that the rights of people trying to kill us trump the rights of you to stay safe.

  6. Mike says:

Yup…more is on the way. Obama’s press secretary says he made the country safer with the new Gitmo and interrogation policies. If anyone believes that lie, I have some swampland in Louisianna that is for sale.

What, did they also close every other federal prison, too? Is the only alternative to Gitmo releasing accused terrorists?

  9. Chupate esa! says:

Something tells me that intelligence is as accurate as Saddam having WMD.

  10. Melrose a says:

This is ridiculous! I do not understand why they think closing Gitmo, which has been used by many Presidents, is a good idea. I understand, fine you don’t want torture happening there, then stop the torture! Don’t let this people loose on the world, to spread their hate and terror, or send them to prisons in the US to make targets for Al Queda right here on our soil. I am glad I am not the only one who thinks this way. This has nothing to do with loosing the election, this has to do with our safety. This action does not make me feel safe, and if you had any brains you would feel the same.

  11. WILDMAN says:

THESE THUGS WILL RETURN TO THE BATTLE ONCE WE RELEASE THEM. I THINK WE ARE NOT AS SAFE AS WE WERE ON 1/19/09. B. HUSSEIN OBAMA HAS A 9/10/01 MINDSET AS DO MOST DEMOCRATS.

  12. Kiran C says:

Yes, you can expect more lies from Al-Qaida. I have read the news story. The man claims to be a Gitmo detainee. He offers no proof that he is the same man that was released. To believe he is the same man is to take a terrorist at his word.
