Muslims: Why don’t a lot of madrasahs teach subjects like Math, Science, Critical Thinking and Liberal Arts?

I know in places like Pakistan and Yemen, a lot of the madrasahs will ONLY teach Islamic studies and Koranic memorization.
But doesn’t the lack of educating real-world skills mean a lot of those Muslim students aren’t going to find meaningful jobs?

They had this neat article in the BBC News about it:

Do you think madrasahs should teach secular subjects alongside religious studies?

    in india

First pls correct one thing and that is no subject is secular. all the subject like science deal with the things made by God so how they can be secular?

So on the basis of above, curriculum of all the schools, madrasah should be same so that all the kids should have equal opportunity in their comingg life.

As far as subject is concened in madrasah, they teach sect (fiqa) and they dont teach Quran. their main concentration is on sect (Fiqa) and not on Quran. They teach hatred towards other sect.

You just hit the crux of the present day ills of the Muslims.

During the early days of Islam there was no segregation between worldly and Islamic studies. Most of the Muslim scientists were alims too, and there was perfect harmony.

The problems started when Muslims started sending low IQ children to madrasas. when they come out of the madrasas, (most of the time with incomplete or distorted Islamic knowledge) they start misleading the others who have been trained exclusively on worldly education.

All deviant sects and have been made based on this.

The only hope for the Muslims is to combine secular schools and madrasas.

If they did such things as teach critical thinking, Islam would soon be under the critical eye of reason itself! That can never be allowed to happen. The moment free thought is allowed to crack open the door and the light shines in under the rock of medievalism, Islam’s five pillars will crumble like a house of cards. NOPE! No critical thinking allowed. Only wrote memory of Quran, hadith and endless recitation of supersition. This is what Islam thrives upon. This is what it has always thrived upon: Ruthless supression of critical thinking, questioning, free thought and the willful refusal to be told what to think or believe must be suppressed at all cost. The survival of the cult depends upon it.

hey!!! there are 1000s of madrisas which teach the regular subjects also. one of the exampels is “jameyat taleem ul quran trust school” it is a chain of madressas.

although those madrissas which only teach quran are more in numbers and that is because they are just there like anyone gets a qari pays him and opens a madrisa it is not that costly you know.

    anyways salam!!!
    PIECES!!!

A lot of presumptions and lack of homework has gone into this question of yours.

Do you know that the madrasahs in Pakistan do teach contemporary subjects especially mathematics and logic. They also teach English, local languages, social studies, science and information technology.

  9. Naush says:

I’m sure many madrasahs in Pakistan don’t teach other subjects simply because of lack of funding.

  10. Quran Forum says:

Its very good and happening in lot of countries Modern Islamic Schools exist.

  11. YummyYemenLemonCake says:

Lol, I am from Yemen and they taught us math, art, and other things. Really stop being ignorant cause I have been to multiple Islamic schools. My sister goes to a madrasah and she is learning math, science, arts, arabic, etc. Same goes for my aunt, cousins, and eventually all my sisters will go to an madrasahs. Trust me they do… Besides madrasah also means school in arabic. But that is Yemen and I am pretty sure in Pakistan, they do the same thing…

  12. majeed3245 says:

Madrasahs are meant to teach only how to read Quran, memorize Quran and meanings of Quran. Madrasahs are built to teach religion to Muslim children by the donations of religious people.

There are millions of regular schools that teach all subjects for worldly eudcation.

Muslim countries are basically weaker as compared to super power USA which wants to dominate all countries on earth and wants to change societies as theirs and want to corrupt their religious teachings
of Muslims so they can easily control Muslim countries. Muslims needs to produce religious fighters against US or Russian occupation of their countries. So they have madrasahs to produce Mujahids to fight back and to give their lives for the freedom of their countries.

Why you think Muslims should stop their Madrasahs? Why USA wants to control the whole world and specially Muslim countries? Is that because US can not fight against the Mujahids?
