Is Yemen the next hotbed of terrorist activity?

Do you foresee the world sending military forces to Yemen to
prevent it becoming the new safe haven for terrorists? It seems
the media is preparing us for this. Yet, Yemen has been a base
of terrorist operations for many years (remember the USS Cole?).
What has changed? What action should be taken, if any? Who
should take the action?
Always has been. Most of the Terrorist have come from there. Need to carpet bomb it like was done in WW2 and be done with it.
No. We actually have a very good working relationship with the leadership in Yemen, the problem is that it is a very poor country and it is difficult to police a country with limited resources, because there are simply not enough police or army to keep tabs on everything.
The idea of indiscriminately killing women and children in order to kill a tiny minority of terrorists is horrific and anyone espousing that idea should be ashamed of themselves as they are no better than the terrorists.
Yemen is a past, current and future hotbed. President Obama set a timetable but he knows that we will have to stay in the middle east because we will be forced.
You cant just name a country and say its a hotbed for terrorism. Terrorism is growing all over the world and it doesn’t follow the rules of borders. Going to Yemen in a larger force wont do anything, maybe just make things worse.
Has been for years
Pretty sure our guys are on top of it. Thanks for your help.
Yah man!
Terrorists have been in Yemen for a long time. The only reason it is even being talked about today is because that is where the latest activity began. There are branches of Muslim extremists in an awful lot of countries, most of which we never hear about. I am fairly certain that we have a group of them right here in our own country.
I even heard yesterday, that someone said that they think that Bin Laden is hiding there. Golly, that guy sure gets around doesn’t he? LOL.
There are already U.S. troops (Marines and spec ops) in the horn of africa (location is not classified but is also not widely publicized so I will not disclose it here) that are operating in yemen…it’s been a hotbed for the last 10 years and is heating up even more.
Yes, I see American troops in Yemen within a year or so. These terrorist organizations don’t exist within political boundaries. When we make it too hot for them to operate in one country, they move to another. It used to be Afghanistan, then Pakistan, now Yemen, tomorrow Oman, who knows. You just got to keep chasing them.
Yemen is now a breeding ground for terrorists who have their sights on Israel. As a friend of the US, Israel should not be inconvenienced with a new enemy. The US already took care of Libya and Iraq for them. Next will be Iran and Yemen. Money is no object to protect Israel.
We should have been there to start with instead of Iraq who had no WMD and no terrorists.
Clinton lied about WMD and attacked Iraq. When Bush finally occupied Iraq to find the WMD Clinton said were there, we found out Clinton lied. So the leftists suddenly developed selective amnesia about Clinton’s attack and his lie, and they blamed Bush for lying about WMD. They still can’t remember Clinton’s 1998 attack on Iraq, no matter how many times you remind them.
Clinton said Iraq was a hotbed of terrorist activity, but when thousands died from his WMD lie, we found out it was all lies.
Obama attacked Yemen, because he believed it is a hotbed of terrorist activity. But he may develop selective amnesia about attacking, because that would look like he knew in advance of the Yemen threat, and he should have done more to prevent the 12/25 attack.
So Yemen could easily become our next Iraq.
Why not also Asia and Somalia? They are everywhere they want to be. These are all independent factions, finding “bases” anywhere and everywhere. It is naive to think, they would have a “base”.
Our Intelligence sucks! Always did suck.
Send all of them to Israel for some much needed lessons on how to do it right!
Yes Yemen a big hotbed. Saudi Arabia is fighting on the border of Saudi and Yemen to keep terrorists out, it’s a huge problem. It’s been said that the attack on the plane on Christmas day was a result of an air attack on terrorists in Yemen the day before.
