Is the Arab-Israeli conflict overshadowing anything else that happens in the region?

Seems like whenever israel is in the news it’s about the conflict. If there was no conflict would Israel make it into the News? What would the articles be about?

This actually is a very nice question, and it would be great if we could find out some day what those articles would be about. I hope it would be about all religions living in peace in that region, and in that country. I would like to think that some day, Palestinian Arabs and Israeli’s will be at peace with each other, and we would see some kind of celebration about that in the news every year.
There would be travel shows, telling everyone about what a wonderful tourist destination it would be, and how you can see Synagogues , Churches, Mosques, and other places of worship in the same neighbourhoods, and about the local cuisines, and festivals. Obviously there would be the normal news, about elections, and domestic problems, everyone has them. But wouldn’t it be nice for a change to hear some good news about how everyone is living in peace and harmony in that region? We can always hope, and I wouldn’t jinx it by saying it would never happen, all it would take is some honesty, some compassion and some cooperation, and of course a bit of sacrifice on each side. It would really be so worth it.

If it wasn’t for the war, Israel would be one of the financial capitals of world.
Israel pretty much sets the bench marks in the world of science as well.

Of course, if it was not arab israeli conflict, it would be about darfour, Somalia, famine in Africa, climate change, pollution, aids, there is always news, but to say the truth, if there was not an arab-israeli conflict, life would be alot easier & stress free

Jim E – “Israel pretty much sets the bench marks in the world of science as well.”

you sure about that ? , i would say they technologically advanced but i won’t say “sets the bench marks”

indeed, countries that don’t get into trouble don’t appear as much in the news,

but news are not only over conflicts.
there is medicine, software and electronics
in all of which Israel is great innovator.

naturally Israel has important religious role,
and is involved in many aid projects.

  5. Not_Brainwashed says:

You have it backwards. The media uses other news from the region to overshadow (and hide) Israeli atrocities. The “threat” of Iran wanting nuclear power is a good example of this.

  6. Tequila says:

The news articles already exist. You can read them anytime at http://www.israel21c.org/bin/en.jsp?enPage=HomePage on an interesting range of topics.

  7. Haute Couture says:

As long as the state of Israel exist then there will be a problem.

Because the whole conflict is Israel existance, The land is not Jewish!!
Its an Arab land and It’s called Palestine.

  8. Venetian Spy says:

Yes it is, because mostly the other things that are happening in the region are interconnected with this conflict. There is the refugee problem in many Arab states because of the Arab-Israeli war.
Iran is always showing up in the news because of the threats that are being thrown on both sides.
The US renewed sanctions on Syria because it did not accept the terms the US had set: to break ties with Iran and Hamas.
These are just few examples, but everything is connected to this conflict, once it is solved, peace may finally come and the region may prosper!

  9. jd says:

Probably not and I bet they would love it.

  10. Jon says:

Unfortunately it does, there are just too many totalitarian governments who perpetually violate human rights in the middle east that are overlooked.
