I think it got a fair whack because he was Asian. However, there was little focus on issues of bullying, racism and the lack of expertise on the part of the teachers to spot a serious problem before it happened. Also, there has to be serious debate about gun control in the school yard, not just chest pounding.
No, just the opposite. If the gunman/bomber/killer isn’t white and/or Christian it gets buried or reported euphemistically. How long did it take for ‘South Korean’ to become ‘Asian’ for the VA Tech killer?
In Seattle a few years ago when the Muslim man killed all of those Jewish people (while spouting anti-Semitic slogans), how much did you hear about that? Or that he was Muslim?
No, so that the networks don’t ‘offend’ anybody, they won’t tell you unless the person is white or Christian. You won’t even see a picture of a person, either, unless they fit that criteria. Remember when all of those Muslim ‘students’ disappeared a few years ago and the FBI was looking for them, but refused to broadcast their pictures? It’s like that.
It’s probably white guilt on the networks’ fault.
People need to get over the whole race thing. When you don’t care what race you are others won’t care either. If you commit some horrible crime it should be talked about and you should get punished no matter what race you are. It’s da 2000′s people…
