Until two days ago and could they find it on a map? Yemen is all we’re hearing now and I haven’t heard anybody on either side even mention it before.

Sure, we can find it on a map. It’s just not usually a place that’s very newsworthy.
I knew because of Friends when Chandler has to go there to get away from Janice. Thats such a good episode!!
I am presuming you are American, as most American people don’t realise that there are any other countries than America!
Wake up to the real world!
Um, yeah.
Yemen is right next door to Oman and south of Saudi Arabia…
Guess you ought to pay more attention in geography?
Or even the the news?
I mean even if you are only interested in things that affect America, Yemen is where the U.S.S. Cole was bombed.
Some times we are focused on few things, but, world is bigger than we imagine. I wonder, do you know how many countries are in America? I ask because I didn’t know exactly and started to search, and, wow! it’s interesting how many things we ignore about our world and the people living here. Regards.
I knewabout it, but I probably couldn’t point to it on a map.
Most people who keep their eye on the politics of the Middle East and the internal strife. After Civil War and power struggles between various parties, in 1990 the countries of North Yemen and South Yemen formally joined to form The Republic of Yemen.
Yemen was involved in the Cole bombings and then again last year when the terrorist was released having served his time there. Yemen has been a thorn in our side for years, albeit a small thorn given the general problems in the area. This is a perfect example of why the study of recent history is important. I’ve been able to find Yemen on the map for about fifty years.
yeah i could find it on a map easily
yemen is one of the few Arabic countries that is a republic (they have a president and a prime minister) and one of the even fewer Arabic countries where alcohol is legal for non muslims
Americans who didn’t know where Yemen was a week ago should question the education they got at the hands of their government.
Ever hear of the U.S.S. Cole? That put Yemen squarely on my radar (it was honestly “just another Muslim country” to me before that). Most people who bother to follow the news, care about history and want to know what the hell they’re talking about are aware of Yemen.
I knew Yemen existed, and I could find it on a map.
I could find it on a map certainly before this incident, but I know what you mean. The talking heads have taken up the mantle.
